Knitting Samples

My first piece of hand knitting...woo! i used a 6 1/2 inch needles and a brown uneven yarn.

This knit sample was done on very large knitting needles, this gives the large loops and holey effect.

This is a sample of hand knitting. i used a wool/acrylic mix on 6 1/2 inch needles.

This sample was made on a domestic machine and i used a transfer tool to create the cable down the one side.

this sample was created on a domestic machine using a hemming method to create the bumps, which gives it texture.

This sample knit was created on a domestic machine. i created alternative holes and ladders.
This knit was created on a dubied machine, gauge 2.5 using quite a thick yarn.

hand knitting

i have decided to teach myself how to hand knit, with the help of a friend of course. i went to abakhans this afternoon and ended up spending alot of money on yarns n bits and bobs, its like heaven in there. anyway, so far i have learnt how to cast on, now to knit a sample, it will probably take me all night. i will try and upload some pictures later on. wish me luck.

Organic forms...Trees

a few images i photographed whilst walking through whitworth park. somewere i venture through every day and never stop to admire the tall forms of nature surrounding me. for my project im taking inspiration from the seasonal chnages of trees and reflecting these in my knit. i will be looking at the textures and feelings and expressing these in my knit through hand knitting and machine knitting. as my garment is multi functional i have decided to reflect the seasonal changes in trees from summer through to winter, in my garments and how they can change fucntion depending on the season.
