first independent project

After the Think Tank project we were given a guideline to set our own briefs. Something either exciting or absolutely terrifying. We were given lots of help with how to find starting points and inspiration for this. I decided i really wanted to learn how to use a proper SLR camera and involve photography into pattern design in some way. I have been really interested in looking at fashion editorials which have been edited using digital imagery. This is what i wish to explore further and develop in this project.

Crystals are my first form of visual inspiration, here are some painted and photographic images of crystals, i plan to use these to edit my photography.

Birdy & Me illustrations

Kelly SMith is a stunning fashion illustrator. I love how she sketches in black and white and uses watercolours and inks to suggest colour palettes and patterns. Her collaborations with photographers is what inspires me the most, i love how she adds her own little drawings to complete a photograph.

Think Tank

I have just completed 'Think Tank', a project based on developing a concept for a trend book. Including researching into a future ideas for concepts, discovering inspirations, researching fabrics and silhouettes, designing print ideas and applying these to illustrations. Throughout the book layout was the most important factor, linking everything together.i feel i have done well and built up my techniques on photoshop. i feel the styling of the photographs could be linked in more to the drawn illustrations.
